When someone pictures a Nebraska wedding, they might imagine a quaint church wedding, with photos taken in front of backdrops such as cornfields and barns. Most people don’t picture a Nebraska wedding inside of a restored vintage theatre or imagine pictures of a wedding party hanging out in the alley in front of their favorite bar. Rococo weddings can be traditional or modern, all while taking place in the exciting atmosphere of downtown Lincoln, so we wanted to share a few perks of having a downtown Lincoln wedding!

Downtown Lincoln is full of fun things to do for your out-of-town guests when they aren’t involved in wedding activities. The nightlife on O Street is always an option for evenings out while the Haymarket area offers fun shopping and restaurants. With lots of locally owned restaurants and boutiques, your wedding guests can explore downtown and get to experience Lincoln like a local. The Lincoln Children’s Museum and Lincoln Grand Cinema are ideal for family outings, and there are multiple hotels downtown that make travel to-and-from the Rococo Theatre quick and easy for your guests.
Character
The Rococo Theatre is filled with gorgeous Italian-influenced architecture that will make your wedding guests feel like they’re attending a wedding in a royal castle. The character and beauty of the theatre is matched by the character of the downtown area. Known as the “Silicon Valley of the Midwest”, Lincoln is full of character. It’s where “Nebraska nice” meets industry. The Haymarket is an area full of charm, with brick streets and a unique atmosphere. Guests will appreciate being in the heart of Lincoln and experiencing the culture downtown.
Photo Ops
Some of our favorite wedding photos are of couples in front of the Rococo marquee. A kiss in front of your name in lights is a magical experience and it makes for a gorgeous photo. Photos with a modern industrial flair are also popular for Rococo couples. Wedding parties are often photographed in the alley of our backstage bar, Barrymore’s. While photos in front of the Rococo Theatre are fun and memorable, the rest of the downtown Lincoln area also makes an excellent backdrop for modern and fun wedding photography. The Capitol Building is just a few blocks away and UNL’s beautiful campus is one block north.
